So this started a couple months ago but I just haven't had the time to fix it. Long story short my rig used to run strong and out of the blue it is unbelievably unstable. I used to be running GTA V at 100+ frames but now I barely reach 50

Set up:
Windows 10
Corsair 850 power suply
GTX 1080 ti
Intel i7-8700k at 3.70 GHz
ROG Maximus X APEX Mobo
8 gigs of ram

Alright. You should probably get a GPU that can game. Though miners have raised the prices, you might be able to get another 1080. Strix 1080. If the performance doesn't improve you might have a bigger issue than that. Your CPU might be weighing down the performance. If you try the Strix 1080 (top-of-the-line 1080 in my opinion) and that doesn't work, your CPU could be the culprit. Try an i5 8400 if that's the case. I've used an i5 with a 1080 before - that should work. If that fails, you've got a serious issue. Maybe it's the RAM.

ANOTHER EDIT: Crap I meant 8600k... keep the Core i7 you paid too much more for it. You COULD get a Titan if you really want. @Rogue Leader I didn't know he had a 1080 Ti. What's the difference, by the way? Not in the name, but performance.

This user has a GTX 1080ti already why in the world would he replace it with a 1080? The user has a i7-8700k which is the fastest gaming CPU right now, why in the world would he get an i5-8400 to replace it, which is slower.

This is not a solution to this issue and as such best answer which was auto selected has been removed by moderation team.
