Hey all! I could really use help on choosing which parts to get. My computer is pretty outdated (here are my specs):
CPU: i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 (I know, it's really old)
RAM: 6 GB DDR3
MOBO: ASUS P8Z77-V LK

I have my mind set on buying a new GPU and 10 more GB of ram, along with a new power supply that would be able to run all of this. I want to buy the best possible parts with a $500 budget. Some pro advice would be awesome and much appreciated!

So far I got my eyes on these, but if there is anything better out there please do share.

^has a 1060 6gb over the 3gb model in your link. A new 16gb kit - adding ram is generally a bad idea.

If you wanted something a little more budget then find used 3770K and OC that with a good air cooler.

is the 6gb much better than the 3gb 1060?

No, not by much at all(maybe 10%). But it does give some extra headroom for playing at higher settings.
Not many titles use more than 3gb of vram at 1080p, but for the ones that do - some will consume more over extended periods - performance will tank.
This can be remedied by turning down some settings... but no one likes to do that, right?

oh i see. Gonna go with the 6gb, thanks. Also, the post above you mentioned getting a new set of ram instead of adding on to my current. Why is this a bad idea? The new set would cost $50 extra and i'm trying to stay low as possible.

Mixing ram is a gamble. When you win, it works and saves you money. Lose, and you end up with an unstable system, plus end up spending more than if you'd just bought the necessary kit in the first place.
If you do decide to mix sticks, make sure you run memtest, and see if your system is still stable afterwards.
