Hello,

For the last week or so I have been getting the dreaded BSOD

IRQL_VALUE_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
and something to do with a win32kbase.sys error, to name a few.

It may be important to note that this seems to mostly occur while gaming.

Have updated all drivers, cleanly reinstalling some that I have read to be common offenders like HD audio drivers and GeForce drivers, but to no avail.
Have ran Memtest86 over night, it found no errors.
Have ran Hard Disk Sentinel (trial version), it found no errors.
Computer doesnt post after BSOD occurs, takes a few tries and some time before it pots successfully.

SPECS:

i5-3470
4GB GeForce GTX 970
ASUS® P8H77-M: M-ATX
8GB SAMSUNG DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz (2 X 4GB)
500GB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s HDD 7200RPM 16MB CACHE
450W Quiet 80 PLUS Dual Rail PSU
(The motherboard, CPU, HDD and PSU are all at least 6 years old)

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Thanks for your reply. I performed the quick test available on the trial version and it found no issues.

Update:
I ran Memtest86 over night and it found no errors. CHKDSK C: /R completed, Hard Disk Sentinel (trial version) found nothing. Seem to be getting BSOD when fiddling with drivers now.

i5-3470
Supported memory: DDR3-1333, DDR3-1600

I could not tell exactly what, 8GB SAMSUNG DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz (2 X 4GB), memory is. You may have a couple random modules sold as single modules that are not compatible together.

I would suggest getting a kit of two DDR3-1600MHz from a reputable memory manufacturer. Setting memory parameters in BIOS by DOCP or manually is recommended.

Thanks for the reply. It may be worth mentioning that this set up has run smoothly for 6 years without fault until now and the ram passed a 10 hour run with memtest86 last night. Does that make it less likely the ram is not compatible?

1. It's useful to know the set up has run smoothly for 6 years without fault until now. No recent changes?
2. What operating system are you using?
3. Have you run virus and malware scans?
4. Have you looked at Task Manager to see what Processes are running in the background?

No recent changes.
Running Windows 10.
Have ran Malwarebytes, it found nothing. Will run again to be sure.
Cant see anything unusual in Task Manager
I have also reset my computer twice in the last week, deleting all personal files and reinstalling windows 10.

It's possible the P8H77-M just does not work well with Windows 10. Asus has not released any driver or BIOS updates for this motherboard since 2015, but Windows 10 never stops changing. The Fall Creators Update was released in October of 2017.
