Hi to all
Last Friday I realised that my pc desktop was reaching hi temperatures, between 70 degrees and 100 degrees, in idle and 80% load, respectively. I decided to put new thermal paste on the cpu, but in attempting to clean the old thermal paste that were spreading all over the cpu, I taked out the cpu and had damage a few pins in the motherboard socket, so after my pc won’t boot. Saturday I bought a magnifying to try to see the bent pins and with very difficult I tried to fix the bent pins. Then after this my pc had boot again but I realised that only 2gb ddr ram were detected by system and the 4gb remaining won’t were detected. I had tried another slots and realised that 2 slots were not ok. But for the rest, pc is working completely normal, the temperatures dropped , 30 degrees idle, 56 degrees in 80% load. I will upgrade the memory with only one slot of memory, and my question is? Since the pc is working fine as I told you, do you suggest to me try again fix the bent pins?, could I have problems in future because these pins? Thankyou for your attention and excuse me with my bad English.

Solution
The problem with the memory is because the memory controller is in the cpu. Bent pins do that. Yes you can repair it further. You have to be very careful and have a lot of patience. You should take the motherboard out and isnpect the pins from all corners and sides. Focus on the bent pins and align them with the rest of them. A single bent pin can ruin the memory controller so i suggest you find the most bent one and recover it, then check again. No you shouldn't have more problems in the future. Since it boots, it will work like that.

Thanks for your rapid answer. I will do that, but I m afraid the pin broke. Since you told me that I will not have problems in the future since the pc is working, I will decide of upgrading memory or try fix the pin.

If i got it right, only one ram slot is actually working. Is this correct? Upgrading ram to, lets say, a single 8gb memory stick would be a solution on the one hand, you will be limited to half bandwidth over sinle channel configuration on the other. If two ram slots are operational then the motherboard has some life left in it by buying a ram kit 2x4gb or 2x8gb, enjoying faster performance with dual channel configuration and a decent amount of ram. Depending on how you use the pc and your budget, you decide. It's impossible to tell you whether the broken pin is the one hitting the memory controller without being sure all other pins are in place. Good luck
