Back in early 2016 as part of building my PC I bought 2x8GB Corsair CMK16GX4M2A2133C13R DDR4 2133Mhz for 16gb RAM.

Today, in an effort to give me more memory/processing speed for multitasking on my computer (internet use/gaming/video editing/etc) I bought another set of of RAM: 2x8GB Corsair CMK16GX4M2A2133C13 DDR4 2133Mhz.

However when I put the sticks in, my computer was working fine for 20 mins and then I got a blue screen crash. When I tried to reboot, the computer would not load, consistently showing the message: Operating System couldn't be loaded because the system registry file is missing or contains errors. And I kept either getting the same thing, or just a long black screen.

When I took the new sticks out and went back to my original 16gb ram, it's working now. I'm able to access my computer to make this post. Now I'm thinking I left out a vital step when installing this ram, like either updating my bios or something. Can anyone help me prep for 2 more 8gb sticks of RAM?

Btw if it helps my original specs include:

i7-6700k 4ghz
Gigabyte Z107X Gaming 5 motherboard
16gb RAM
MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X
Corsair CX600 600W
Samsung UE590 4K monitor

You being on the Z170 platform, you should be able to run DDR4-2133MHz rams without any issues. Have you made sure you're on the latest BIOS revision for your motherboard? You might want to follow up on these numbers:
2133 MHz - 1.2 V - CL13 - 13-15-15-28
and manually input them in BIOS provided enabling XMP doesn't help you out.

These two links should support my theory that they have the same IC's underneath the heatspreaders, albeit a different color on the heatspreaders:

I would also ask you to change out the PSU to something more robust/reliable.
