So I have this mac book pro ssd. The computer is broken, but the ssd is fine. what do i have to buy on amazon that will allow me to put the ssd into the sleeve and turn it into a hard drive that i can plug into another computer and take the information
The mac was bought around october 2014, and the ssd is about the size of 2 fingers stacked together vertically

Are you describing an M.2 drive, and, formatted for the MAC, and, possibly encrypted as well...

(is this your drive?)

Or is it a standard 2.5" format SSD used worldwide for the last 14 years?

'two fingers stacked vertically'?

whatever drive it is, slapping it into a PC with the goal of data recovery....well....WIndows will not easily be reading it.

Best to take it to a MAc store/specialist for data recovery.

Macbook Pro SSD are highly proprietary. Personally, I think you'd be better off selling it on eBay. Then buy a proper M.2 SSD.

You'll need a M.2 Key M adapter for the SSD to work in a PC. Please make note of the SSD models supported. Your Macbook Pro must be one of the listed models. Other models need different adapters.

This only works in motherboards with an M-Key socket. Not B-Key or B/M-key. If that is a problem. You'll also need a PCIe x4 adapter.
