So for a while now Ive been trying to decide what to upgrade so i can get better performance for my PC. Keep in mind that I play video games and some games I can rarely hold 60 fps and I am also a video editor and Sony Vegas lags a ton! I was going to upgrade and buy an SSD or some more RAM but im here to just make sure

CPU : AMD FX-8300 Vishera 32mm Technology 3.30 Ghz
RAM : 8.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 803MHz (11-11-11-28)
Motherboard : ASUSTek Computer INC. M5A78L-M PLUS/USB3 (AM3R2)
Graphics : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (MSI) - 4095MB
Storage : 931GB TOSHIBA DT01ACA100 ATA Device (SATA)

I use Vegas Studio too and it is heavily CPU bound when you select the option to render from the CPU over the GPU. (FYI Sony sold it off a few years ago to German-based Magix so it's no longer Sony Vegas Studio for the new versions). You'd need a powerful GPU like a 1080 to be better at rendering on GPU vs. CPU. Generally clock for clock though Ryzen is faster than Intel on video encoding.

On the other hand, if you are gaming at 1080p, your 1050 Ti will benefit from a faster modern Intel chip but it still won't push modern AAA titles to a solid locked 60FPS like the recently released Far Cry 5. You'll need at least an i5 8400 and GTX 1060 (6GB) for that. If you want a balanced system I'd recommend Intel over Ryzen IF you are running...

However that performance gap closes significantly when jumping up to say 1440p and higher resolutions.
