Msi gtx 1060 gaming x 6GB vs Gigabyte gtx 1060 G1 gaming 6GB

Solution
The cooler and power delivery is the main difference. They both share the same 1070 core and should perform nearly identically.

I have no good reason to recommend one of those over the other, they are both good cards with similar cooling performance and power delivery. I would get whichever is cheapest or whichever best suits the aesthetic of your build.

I have had the MSI gaming x 1060 in my build for about a year now, no issues with it at all.

Main differences between board partners are power delivery, cooling system, and noise output. Performance will be nearly identical across the board.

MSI's Gaming X series GPUs are some of the best for lowest noise output. But, again, that is still within a few % numbers of other AIB partners. As you say, it is best to go with whichever is cheaper or looks better to you.
