I'm trying to set up my first RAID5. I have four identical 3TB Hitachi drives, go through the RAID utility setup (pre-boot), but the OS still sees them as 4 attached 3TB drives.

SYSTEM INFO: Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth 990FX CPU: Phenom II x6 1100t RAM: 8GB DDR3 @ 1600 (don't remember brand) HDDs: 320GB WD HDD (OS), 4 x Hitachi 3TB drives (RAID) OS: Windows 10

Steps taken: 1. Installed Windows on OS drive. 2. Connected 4 drives for RAID. 3. Changed SATA mode to RAID in UEFI. 4. Set up RAID5 with 4 disks in pre-OS environment (forget the actual name). 5. Launch windows, open Disk Manager. 6. All disks appear, but as 3TB individual drives.

Expected behavior: have one disk appear in disk manager as 9TB drive.

Result: 4 individual drives appear.

What am I doing wrong?

Solution
I believe it likely that Windows must be steered to some chipset-related RAID drivers as well..

(The R2 version of your board is shown below, go to R3 or Rev 1 if applicable)
