Hey all,

so unfortunately, today my GPU (msi Radeon R9 270) died and I have to get a new one. So basically, I plan to upgrade my whole PC and get an i5-8400 in the future. Now, I could get a GTX 1050 Ti, but I don't think it will work well with the i5-8400 I'm planning to buy. I think I'll go for a GTX 1060 Gigabyte Windforce 6GB and wanted to ask if it's a good choice, will it work with my current system (AMD A10-5800K) and if you have any recommendations, I'd be happy to hear! Thanks!

Solution
An i5 8400 would work fine with a 1050 ti, it would also work fine with a 1060. A 1060 is a good choice, a 1050 ti would be fine as well if you cant afford a 1060. Yes it will work with your current system.

Just one last thing to be clear, I have a 600W PSU and the minimum requirement of the GPU is 450 - 500W. I'm not going to have a problem with that, right?

Probably not. Do you know the make and model of your PSU?

That is really more like a 400watt PSU, I cant believe they call that 600watts when it only makes 26amps and 312watts on the 12v rail.

It will likely power a 1060. However I would think about an upgrade to a decent PSU, the one you have is low quality and lying about it's wattage rating from what I can tell.

Yeah I need it to work at least until near future, because as I said I'm planning to get more better parts and I think they will need a better PSU. So if this could hold for a few months or so, it'd be great. I really hope this would power the 1060, otherwise I am really screwed.

If it powered a R9 270 then I would surly think it could power a 1060, the 270 is more power hungry. However I would not trust a PSU like that in my system. It will probably be fine for a few months.
