8700K speed problem

Hi
I have 8700K and maximus x hero the bios settings is default,
In the Windows 10 task manager show cpu speed 3.7 but the Turbo Boost of 8700K
is 4.7 how to enable it?

its automatically enabled, however only 1 core will achieve this speed. There is a good article that you can refer.

In short, based on you cpu work load and available thermal headroom, cpu will self overclock to a pre defined speed.

run Prime 95 for a minute or two, and check HWMonitor to see if at least one core is scaling to 4.7 GHz...

With XMP and MCE enabled, and good cooling, it should scale all cores to as high as 4.7 GHz if power limits and cooling allow......

Read the article zyh1987 linked. When 6 cores are in use the max boost is 4.3Ghz. 4.7 is when only 1 core is in use.

4.7GHz Turbo on 1 core only.
4.3GHz Turbo on all 6 cores.

This is due to temperature reason.
4.7GHz on all cores would require a good cooler in order to keep the CPU from throttling.

Since you have the K variant, you can overclock it and thus force that 4.7GHz on all cores, but temperatures will be through the roof.
