CPU Socket Advice

Hi all,

As a relative newbie when it comes to CPUs and sockets, some advice would be fab.

I'm looking to upgrade my i5 3570k to an i7 8700k (or another 8th gen i7), as well as a RAM upgrade.

Currently running an ASUS P8Z77-V mobo (LGA 1155 Socket), with a gtx 1070.

Can anyone recommend a good mobo to upgrade to to host the new i7? (if an upgrade is even necessary).

Cheers!

You definitely need to upgrade the motherboard if you're looking for a new CPU; you can't run anything after an Ivy Bridge on that motherboard.
