Computer stuck on msi main board screen, then gives boot error

The most common reason for this failure message is HDD failure - - - needs replacing if that's the case.

True, but that corruption is often caused by a failing hard drive anyway in my experience.

Don't forget windows update bricking systems. It's been happening quite a bit lately and I've had to fix many older (ivy bridge and before) systems and even had to put them back on 8.1 due to a spectre patch update breaking them. (most of this happens on portable devices).
