Constant BSODs while gaming & other issues

I'm at my wits end. Ever since we replaced all parts in my pc, I've been having TONS of issues, and I can't find the cause at all.

A month ago I already posted a thread about the issues I'm having with my GPU (or whatever is the cause) not working properly. I've tried tons of things but nothing changed. I even had contact with the manufacturer and even they don't know what to do; they told me to get my pc checked over by someone but I can't afford to..

Issues I'm having:

  • Low FPS in games I should be getting way higher FPS in. For example, I average 30 fps in Fallout 4 when I should be getting at least 100 according to benchmarks.

Constant BSODs while gaming (At least every other game while playing Overwatch for example, or after a couple hours in The Sims). I get different error codes each time: "page fault in nonpaged area", "system service exception", "attempted execute of noexecute memory", etc.

When I try to do a clean install of drivers through the gigabyte installation program, my computer always BSODs at the exact same point - error "unexpected kernel mode trap". When I install the same drivers through GeForce Experience it works fine however.

Things I've already done since we rebuilt my PC:

  • Virus scans
Settings/BIOS checks/Flashing BIOS to latest update
    Turning on XMP
Moving GPU to another PCIe16 slot
    Reinstalling all drivers
Changed RAM slots from 2-4 to 1-3
A clean reinstall of Windows 10
    Disk checks

Here's my specs:

  • Asus Prime B350-plus motherboard
    AMD Ryzen 5 1600 six-core processor
    2x 8GB DDR4 ram
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Windforce OC 8GB
    256GB SSD, 1TB HDD
    Corsair RM850x PSU
    BENQ XL2411 & BENQ G2420HDBL monitors
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit installed on SSD

I honestly just don't know what to do anymore. Help would be greatly appreciated... Can provide any info needed.

Your symptoms indicate a memory issue. Either one of the RAM sticks is faulty, or incompatible with the other stick. It could also be a problem of having a memory which your motherboard simply does not "like", or has not been tested with.

Which model of memory sticks are you using exactly?

Did you try using only a single stick of memory? If it still doesn't work, try just the other stick. If still no go, try to borrow a stick of different brand and test again. Test each stick in at least 2 different mobo slots just to be sure that no slots are problematic. You simply have to rule out the memory issue by all means before moving further.

You mentioned that you installed win10 from scratch: however, it is extremely important to use the...

You mentioned that you installed win10 from scratch: however, it is extremely important to use the latest available official build with all the latest patches already included in the ISO image. A lot of fixes for Ryzen compatibility have been introduced since original Win10 release.

I'm using two Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB memory sticks that came in a package together with my motherboard and CPU. The package has been put together and tested by professionals so it can't be a mobo/stick incompatibility. I don't think the slots are the problem either as I already switched the sticks around and nothing changed... I'll try using a single stick though and see what happens.

Yeah, I reinstalled from scratch only 2 months ago with a completely new ISO image, with all the updates etc. It took weeks to get all my programs and settings etc. back so I'd rather not go through that again. I'll be testing the memory sticks soon, hopefully someone I know has some memory sticks I can borrow.. I'm also gonna contact the store I bought them from to see if they could possibly do something for me.

So I decided to run MemTest before I'd start messing with the sticks and lo and behold, it came back with an error and BSOD'd like usual a couple seconds after. I already had contact with the store I bought them from and will be returning them on monday. Thank you so much for helping me identify the problem!
