Is Windows 10 "Sonic" spatial sound even needed with a Asus Strix SOAR's Sonic Studio's "Virtual Surround" setting?

I ask because with Windows Sonic you are limited to 48kHz at 16 bits where I don't see any such limitation to Asus's Virtual Surround option.

Thanks!

Edit: Just to be totally clear I'm referring to headphones. Senn open back 558's.

Thanks! Do you find 1 better then the other?

One thing Sonic Studio for Asus doesn't do which I wish it did, was have an "auto" mode for kHz and bit rate so you didn't have to manually change it if you want it set to the correct setting of an individual song or video.

That brings up another question. In Win 10, what should I set my sound quality at for my Logitech Z-5300 5.1 sound system. I had just assumed that setting it to a high level would "cover" everything but I'm now learning that setting it to an improper rate really effects what you hear since it is trying to pick up sound ranges that some of my files have clipped. I now look for FLAC instead of MP3 except where my MP3 player is concerned.

I should add that I know the Z-5300's are ancient but I took them into an audio repair store to fix a broken solder joint on the central speaker input jack and the very experienced gentlemen said that my speakers were fine. I'm sure a modern, higher end, wireless 7.1 system would be a lot better but I don't have $500+ to spend on replacing something that still works. If I didn't have the Senn (Open Back) 558's I might, but even though these headphones are mid range for Senn, they put out great sound. (FYI I was using a Creative SB X-Fi Fatal1ty up until a couple weeks ago. WOW what a change!

Edit: I actually just listened to something that was FLAC but stereo, twice, through my speakers, trying both upmix's separately and with both the sound felt very tinny and far away. It actually sounded a lot better when it was only using the front L and R, and sub.

God I better not be becoming an audiophile. I can't afford it!
