So my main wd blue is failing (constant windows messages, bad sectors, weird noises) I bought a Seagate Barracuda 1TB. I plugged it in aand it sounds like a lawn mower. My whole case is vibrating hard core from it! Tell me if its normal i will return it and will buy a wd red. I read that its quiet. Thanks in advance! :wahoo:

It's really really infamous one. I think its german case as i got the pc originally from people who lived in Germany. Its called rombus but it doesnt come up in google dont waste your time its not those fancy Rhombus ones. This pc has been a struggle for me for a long time.. At this point i just wanna trash it. You can check my other threads too. Thanks for replying SkyNetRising

I managed to get the noise to acceptable levels using some tiny rubber rings for around the screws. Im happy that you're here Seagate Surfer. You probably work for seagate right? The problem is that the hard drive vibrates so much it makes my case rattle like crazy. So even if i measure noise levels they wont be accurate. One more quetion.. I put my pc on sleep mode, after a while i wake it up the barracuda starts spinning for 3 seconds then stops. It turns on only when i shut down and i turn the pc back on (not a restart, shut down and power on) Will this occure when i make the drive my main boot drive? Because that would be stupid. Thanks Again

The issue is your case not the hard drive.

Im not a massive fan of seagate & honeatly tend to buy Toshiba above all else nowadays.

However Ive used a mass amount of barracuda's over the years , still currently own 2 or 3 & can honestly say vibration has never ever been an issue.

The heads are slightly noisy under heavy use but no more so than a wd black.look at your case feet , the surface it's sitting on , or maybe your actual case itself for solutions.

Hello nikomateev. Yes, correct I am a Seagate rep. The problem you are experiencing seems to be more software related than hardware. Should not happen if you make it the primary boot drive but if it does happen, check power management settings. As a side note, vibrations can affect your HDD and render it useless so that needs to be taken care off because you do not want to run into a situation where you loose your valuable data.
