I'm experiencing packet loss issues for the past 3 days (30% packet loss) on games like CSGO. I've called my ISP and they said that no one else is having those issues( one of my neighbours do agree that he has been experiencing problems too like slow internet but he still did not complain to the isp) Browsing internet and watching videos seems fine. I pinged my router 0% packet loss and then 8.8.8.8 and again got 0% packet loss out of 100 packets sent. I believe that its a problem on my ISP's end but it could be my router too. I tried resetting my router but no luck. Speedtest confirms that I have no issue over the internet speed and my ping seems fine too.

I ran a traceroute on google DNS(8.8.8.8) 1st and 2nd hops were fine but the 3rd one failed(Request timed out) then 4th - 10th were fine and from there 11th - 19th fail and the 20th one was successful( tracert completed on the 20th hop)
Ran another one with my primary DNS given by my ISP(the one I could not ping) and 3rd hop failed but in this case my 7th-30th hops all failed(Request timed out)

Solution
You have to be careful to not misinterpret tracert. If traffic was completely failing at say hop 5 you would never see hop 6 or anything past. Even when traffic say fails at some hop and all hops past that it does not always mean there is a problem. If the site you are tracing to actually work at all then the traffic has to be getting there even though tracert says it does not.

A lot of network equipment is designed to prioritize passing data over responding to ping and tracert. So the device may be to busy doing important stuff to respond to you or they may have it configured to not respond at all. When it fails at the end of the trace it means there is a firewall blocking ping/trace.

The best thing to try is to run a tracert to the game server. Then open multiple cmd windows in the background and leave a continuous ping run to a number of the hops in the trace.

Pretty much if the problem is not in the first couple hops you are not going to get it fixed. There is very little you can do if the problem is between some other ISP in the path. The first couple hops are your ISP and they should be able to fix it. The first level techs generally only have access to the equipment that provide connection to end houses. This is most times hop 2 in your trace. If the problem is past that you will need a more advanced tech in most cases.

Thanks for helping out but I called my ISP and they were right that it was a fault on my side. My router was failing since it was around 5-6 years old. I came to notice this when I directly connected my ethernet cable to my computer. My ISP changed the Router and everything seems to work fine although I still don't know that when I pinged my Router everything was fine 0% packet loss. Seems like my Router couldn't handle the traffic.
