For some reason, since monday I started getting input lag in fortnite all the time. Before, it occured sometimes, like when a fight got wild or when at the end-game there are a lot of player-built structures. But now, it's t here always. The game doesn't feel smooth, it doesn't look smooth either, when I move around it looks like 50fps at some times, while the game's fps counter (and Afterburner's) show me fps that can vary all the way from 100-250+ (@144hz).

I've tried everything to resolve it, I even reinstalled windows.
My hardware :

i5-6500 3.2 Ghz,
Asus ROG Strix GTX 1070 OC edition (non overclock mode, with oc on it does the same thing anyways)
16 GB Ram,
Seasonic S12II 620 W (80+ bronze) psu.

My game is installed on my ssd and it's set to the lowest settings at 1080p.
Mouse smoothing is turned off in the ini files
Mouse acceleration is turned off in windows, LGS and fortnite ini files.

I'm clueless, please help!!!

Thanks in advance!

**EDIT: I also set the NVIDIA control panel settings to low, and ofc, V-Sync is turned off (motion blur aswell), I don't have G-Sync.
**
**Also, things I tried :

Different mouses, differnet monitors, different cpu (lower end tho so not a surprise), reinstalling the game, verifying cache, changing resolution, tweaking graphical settings, different sensitivities and DPI's)**

(I also experience this in PUBG btw, but I've always had it in PUBG whereas in Fortnite it just occured)

Fortnite is one of those games that relies a lot on the CPU(as opposed to most games relying more on the GPU). The CPU you have unfortunately is not very good(at least for gaming). It probably wouldn't be worth it to get a i5-6600k(due to price), but you should be able to find a used i7-6700(non k) for around $200 - $250 now.

That's what I thought (and kind of knew it to be the problem) it was too!
But it still is weird to me how my friend with the exact same specs has way less input lag, and also how it only happened since monday to me.

Anyways I might even go for the 8700k, that'll do good for a long time, I don't find the 6700 to be worth the small price difference (30 euro's where I live), but this does unfortunately mean I'll have to also get a new z370 motherboard :(

Anyways, thanks for answering!

I just made an account to tell you that cpu has nothing to do with that input lag... Dont know how this was chosen as best solution, that CPU is just fine and even with a bottleneck it should NOT cause input lag, I have run Fortnite on an AMD A12 laptop processor, pretty much a garbage processor, wihout any input lag

For windows 10 something that once triggered input lag is "game mode" part of the whole xbox thing I recommend uninstalling it as seen here https://winaero.com/blog/how-to-uninstall-and-remove-the-xbox-app-in-windows-10/

No its not your cpu! Console has also started to have alot of input lag! All the time 24/7 after the p90 patch update. I have an xbox X and it ran so smooth, now its awful. Im not sure what the hell is going on but its not your hardware, its a game issue! And only people like us who know what input lag is notice and i think it is Epics way to nerf the building and level the playing field for noobs. I honestly think they want it to be input laggy.
