Dvd drive doesn't work after installing second hard drive

i'm not sure if it's actually related to be honest since i only tried to use a dvd some days after installing the second hard drive.
anyway, the dvd drive still appears in device manager. i have tried updating drivers(up to date already) uninstalling/reinstalling them still nothing.
specifically, the problem is that once i insert a dvd into the drive it won't read it at all, not appearing on my "devices and drives"
curiously a pc technician tried replacing my DVD drive with another one.. still nothing so unless they are both faulty i doubt it it hardware related

Well....DVD drives die like gerbils so the chance of getting two bad ones isn't super remote.

The first thing I would do is go into the BIOS and make sure it's there (it probably is) and SAVE THE BIOS.

Then if that didn't work....I would try another SATA port...then go into the BIOS, confirm it's there and SAVE THE BIOS.

Then if that didn't work I would replace the cables to the drive....especially the data cable.

i'm a complete noob so.. how do i find the dvd drive in the bios?(and what do you mean "save the bios"
