Headset Cloth Cover of Chord Broken

My headset, the HyperX Revolver, has a ripped broken cloth cover of the chord. However, the chord itself isn't actually ripped, only the cloth that covers the rubber chord. Is it fine this way, or should I try and find a way to fix it or cover it up?

Where along the cord is it ripped?
Since its just the outer cover, its most likely going to be fine. I would recommend wrapping it in some sort of tape or similar to prevent it from getting worse.
