I just purchased a USB infrared receiver with remote. The end goal is to be able to turn my PC off/on with my Amazon Alexa, but first I need to be able to turn it off/on with the IR remote. I'm able to turn it off with the remote just fine, it begins it's soft shut down sequence when I press the power button on the remote. But I think this puts the PC into an S1 state so it's completely powered off. I think in order for this whole thing to work the IR remote needs to put my PC into S3 power mode.

I know there are some BIOS settings I can enable, and I think I know what they are but I can't seem to find them.

Here's my specs:

MOBO: MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition
CPU: Intel i5 4690 3.3GHz
GPU(s): 2x Gigabyte GTX 970's (4GB)
RAM: 8GB
PSU: Roswell Photon 750

And here's the IR receiver/remote I got: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078SYRGKP/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Anyone have any ideas?

Look on page 3-10 of your manual. You need to Enable "Intel Rapid Start Technology" in the BIOS.

▶Intel(R) Rapid Start Technology [Disabled]

[Disabled] Disables Intel Rapid Start Technology.
▶Entry on S3 RTC Wake [Enabled]

Thanks, I’ll give it a shot when I get home and post the results.

Edit: That didn’t work, I’m still unable to turn my computer on with the IR Remote.

It might be worth noting that since I bought an Oculus Rift, I’ve been having issues with my initial boot. I’ll turn my computer on and the post screen/Windows 10 logo will appear on my third monitor (rather than my first) then it’ll hang on a black screen indefinitely. I’ll have to hard shut down the computer with the power button and restart it, the post screen and windows logo now appearing on my primary monitor and it’ll boot to my login screen. This may or may not be related to my Oculus Rift and it may or may it be causing conflicts with this bass akwards method of turning my computer on and off.
