It's likely been over a year by now, but I've wanted to deal with this. What happened was that I was moving through the house when my headphones' cord got caught on a doorknob and the headphones were violently yanked out of the socket. Afterwards, the jack was bent and I could only hear sound in one of the ears regardless of whatever pair I used. Is there a way to fix this?

Probably more than the computer would be worth. You have to figure the price of the board, let's say 150-200 on the lower end, then the technician's time as well. When I've worked on PC support in the past, it was 40 dollars diagnostic, then 75 an hour. Figure at least 50 an hour. I know some guys who charged 90-100 an hour though. But figure at least 2 or 3 hours into the job to do the replacement and test.

You got any idea what the cost of something such as replacing the motherboard would be? I'm not too familiar with computer hardware and pricing.
