I have the b350f and was wondering if the new ryzen 2000 cpus will work on that board? I might then go for the 2000 series if it will.

Bios 3203 was released January

Whether your board has that bios is going to be luck of the draw.

If it has an earlier bios it will need a ryzen gen 1 processor fitted to update it to run the 2*** series cpu's.

Go on to asus site & search for the most recent bios update to suit your board & new CPU microcode. Need exact bios update from asus. If you got a 1st gen processor should be fine tho be handy idea to load up the bios to a usb & its a 5 min job.

Madmatt so i need to mby ask the place i bought the mobo to update the bios for me with a ryzen 1 gen chip if i go with the 2 gen ryzen? Thanks alot for all the answers really! Oh and can they tell me if the mobo has the newer version bios on it mby somehow?

There were supposed to be ryzen 2000 ready stickers on the boxes for boards with updated bios revisions.

Asus did used to put white sticker with black print on boards themselves with serial & bios revision printed,I dont think they do anymore but its worth checking over the board front & back in case.

But yeah pretty much,if you have a physical store that can flash the board it will be a 5 minute process for them.

What are the rest of your build plans & location??

The reason I ask is ,that while the improvements on the 2600/2600x clock speeds looks fairly impressive the pricepoint is looking like 200/229 $/£/euro.

With the prices dropping vastly on the gen 1 chips lately (for example the 1600 is down to £137 in the uk at the minute) the ryzen 2's honestly dont look great value at that retail pricepoint to me.

With a little overclock on a 1600 youre within 5% of the performance of the 2600x for considerably less money over her in the uk at least.

I am from Estonia. I was going for the ryzen 5 1600 at first and just thought that if i want to i have the chance to go for ryzen 2000 series. The price for the 1600 is 175 eur in Estonia. The 2600x will be at 229 eur or so. Need to see some benchmarks etc before i make the decision. Ill go to the place i bought the mobo and ask them what they can do for me.

So €55 difference ?

If you're in no rush wait till they release ,see the prices then make an informed decision.

Honestly though you may see the 1600 drop below €160 - if it does I'd just grab one at the price - I just don't think the 2600x is worth €60 more personally.

Solid, build I just happened upon this thread asking the same questions. But as far as everything else for the build...you may want a Samsung ssd, as they are significantly faster. Both the 960 evo and the 860 evo are good. one is nvme, and the other 3DNAD, and aesthetically the 960evo is a black chip as uposed to the standard green ( I say this because it may look better, which is a concern to some. Samsung is just better for not that much more, consider it.

Back to the actual topic, I haven’t seen anything for the non “x” for both the 6 core and 8 core. If anyone has these please share if there are benches or even just clock speed and stuff. I’m more exited for the new APU line that already came out myself, as it would be great for my moms new workstation I’m planning for her birthday.

I have the same question, just picked up this board with no chip yet, upgrading from a 8310 so either is a huge upgrade, however debating between the 1600x and 2600x, will check the box when i get home to see if i have a sticker, if i don't have a sticker i have to get the 1600X is that correct?
