Hi!

I have an old HP HDX9200 that has some funky graphics artifacts after a failed windows 10 install.. (I believe it started after trying to install gpu drivers within windows 10)

My question is: can i just replace the chip? (8800m gts) or must i change out the whole board assembly around it too? It seems unlikely to me that the chip itself is making my PC do this, but im not sure what elsr it could be.

If its any help i can post a photo of the display (including the static artifacts).

Actually on HP PAVILION HDX9200 - GPU is in MXM format and can be replaced.

Alright, so i'm assuming that means i must replace the CHIP and the graphics-PCB in one unit like pictured.

I found one that should be compatible on ebay for 170$ with free shipping. Do you guys think its worth the trouble? :p

Its in otherwise great shape so I kinda want to do it.
