Hey guys from TH, I usually don't ask for advice online but this one is a jawbreaker...
So I have a gaming PC built into the Enthoo Evolv Shift X frame with an i5 8600K on an MSI Z370I Gaming Pro Carbon cooled by an NZXT X52 AiO with a push/pull setup.
I moved to a new apartment today and until yesterday I had CPU temps at 30-35°C in Idle and 60-70°C under load, stable at 4.0 Ghz and a Vcore of around 1.104V.
A week ago I added some Cablemod cables but that was fine for a week too.
Today I plug everything in and suddenly my fans start spinning up and up and after a few seconds the NZXT CAM Software tells me I have reached 85°C on my CPU. It goes all the way up to 99°C in BIOS on Idle. I have already done the following:
-removed the cooler, re-applied thermal paste, mounted it again
-CMOS reset
-checked all cables and AiO pump
-checked backplate
-pressed CPU cooler against the CPU to see if it changes anything
no success so far. I'm afraid my CPU is done for but why would it be running then. I really have no idea what it could be. Halp!
Tony
EDIT:
I actually found an old Intel stock cooler and the temps don't surpass 40°C anymore.
Apparently the Kraken didn't cool despite the pump running? How is that possible? I thought when the Kraken dies it's the pump..
