Hi, I built my pc back in 2014. Details are as below:

1. CPU - i5 4690k
2. Mobo - Asus z97 A
3. GPU - MSi GTX 970
4. RAM - Gskill sniper series 8gb
5. Heatsink - be quiet Dark Rock pro 3 250W TDP (was using intel stock cooler until recently)
6. PSU - Rosewill Capstone 650W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

A couple of days back, I experienced blank screen everytime I booted my pc. I went to the repair guy and he said there seems to be problem with the motherboard and need a week's time to be looked at properly. After a week, he says the motherboard is of no use since the nvidia chipset has dried up and I need to buy a new motherboard because the existing one can't be repaired. Now I am in a fix, I'm not able to decide which motherboard to buy as I see there are very limited choices. Can anyone please suggest me a good gaming motherboard under 300$. I live in Seattle and I dont see a lot of options online. I'm in need of any and all suggestions I can get.

Here's a list of compatible boards via PCPer.

Personally though, for $300 I'd just go for a newer system and sell your i5/DDR3.

Or go with the 8600K/Z370 if you want OCing capability.

Hi

What company is the repair guy from?
You may need a second opinion

If the nvidia chipset has. Failed it would be the graphics card that had died
The motherboard has an intel chipset

What psu do you have?

Look on amazon for new socket 1150 motherboards

Unless it has the same chipset as your current motherboard you will need to re install Windows

Hi, the repair guy is from a local store and isnt a certified technician. He said he examined the whole thing and there was some fluid in the chipset that has dried up. I wasn't entirely convinced but I had no choice since the motherboard has exceeded the warranty time period.

My PSU is Rosewill Capstone 650W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply.

I checked on amazon but I don't see a lot of lga1150 options. And now I am also not sure about which one to get since my first option didn't work well.

Before I gave my motherboard for repair, I was seeing a blank screen on bootup and there was this boot device led light glowing in the motherboard. After I got the motherboard back, DRAM LED seems to be blinking on boot up and I dont even see a blank screen now.

But isn't i5 4690k a good processor? I just put 300$ as the maximum limit on my budget. I just want a reliable motherboard and save as much as I can. Because I am also thinking about adding another 8gb RAM if I could save some money after getting a good motherboard. Thank you so much for the suggestion though. I really appreciate it :)
