I have an SFF pc with an i5 2500 and no gpu that i'm looking to upgrade and i'm thinking :

a.Buy a gt1030 lp and put in there
or
b.Get a normal case, a good psu and an older used gpu that is better than the 1030 for around the same price.
And be able to upgrade later on.

Solution

a lot of SFF systems have a custom power supply with custom connections and non standard motherboard size

first step is to make sure it has a standard 20/24-pin motherboard connector and is of standard size ie matx

It's a Fujitsu prebuilt SFF system , i don't know the model , it's got a i5 2500 3.3 GHz , 4gb ram ddr3 , 300gb hdd and a 250w psu.

If you go with option B you might also want to upgrade the power supply at the same time. A lot of the SFF power supplies are marginal with the default configuration for the PC and they only get worse with time or additional load. Our office uses a lot of refurbished SFF computers where we add a simple GT 210 video card and some of them have a problem with that video card.
