Upgrading CPU/ Overheating Issues

Hello, first time posting here so forgive if I'm in the wrong thread. I'm trying to boost my performance and help with the overheating. I've been looking towards upgrading the cpu or maybe add a liquid cooling fan but the compatibility between the mobo and the newest cpus has thrown me for a loop. Long story short, should I upgrade or modify what I have to help with performance/over heating? Any help/comments appreciated :)

Windows 8
AMD FX 8350
NVIDIA GTX 970
ASUS M5A97 R2.0
16GB RAM

Okay, then upgrade the stock heatsink to a better cooler; good brands include noctua, thermalright, cryorig, and bequiet. I don't recommend liquid cooling from my own experience. You can do more research from here on out. good luck.

what kind of cpu cooler are you using? is it a stock heatsink? do you have good airflow? what case do you use and do you utilize good fans?

By the way, AMD's 8350 consumes a lot of power if i'm not mistaken. So it does get hot - known fact. You should consider getting a cpu cooler with at least 4x heatpipes (the more the better IMO) depending on your budget. I think $80 isn't a bad choice. Look at tom's hardware's guide to cpu coolers if you're interested.

Im using the stock heatsink and stock fans. My case is a corsair 230T, this would be my first real upgrade since i got it (other than adding some extra ram). Now that the weather is getting hotter and sadly my AC is broken, I'm noticing the overheating issues. For now its kinda an unlimited budget since I'm just looking for solutions lol realistically though under 100$ is ideal but if necessary I'll be willing to push to 200
