I'm planning on installing a new ssd with windows as the os, do I need to wipe my hdd with windows also on it but keep my boot drive as the ssd?

Solution
If the old HDD has windows then yes for the best experience, if not if It just has all your games then no. So if its carrying os yes if not then no.

no you don't need to wipe it , when you install windows on your ssd it would automatically boot from your ssd instead if the mobo is new enough. then you can simply shift +delete the windows folder from your old HDD afterwards.

This is not a "may be" . It most definitely will happen.
When windows gets installed, installer looks for existing bootloader. If one already exists, new one is not being created.

So when I'm installing Windows again. Just make sure only the ssd is plugged in?
