tl;dr: Hi guys, can a faulty motherboard damage a new RAM?

full:
My mobo worked fine, but once I returned home after 2-3 weeks of not using my PC, it did not work. After some testing I found out that it works when I put one certain RAM into one certain slot (it has 4 slots). No other combination worked (this RAM does not work in any other slot and the other RAM doesn´t work in any slot). BUT - both RAM sticks work in my friend´s PC. But it is a H77 or H87 motherboard (socket 1155) that are unfairly expensive (idk why). Besides that, everything works (I have been using it with 1x4GB of RAM for several months). So I would like to try and buy a new RAM and put it in, if it works, but I don´t want to do it if there is a high risk that the new RAMs will be damaged from plugging into partially-faulty motherboard.
Any advice?
Thanks

I would change the motherboard personally, if the RAM worked just fine in your friends PC, there is a very high chance the new RAM you get will not work at all.

I doubt it'd damage the RAM, it just won't use them. However I cannot guarantee this, so I'd recommend just buying a new motherboard so you don't have to deal with RAM issues.
