i have my hd full of videos that i need to convert to dvd to make space, i'm using exclusively ConvertXtoDvd which allows a max of 8 cores or threads (recognizes threads as cores) i'm considering these 2 finally ryzen 5 1500x and ryzen 5 1600 (or anyone $200 or less) my budget is tight and still need mobo and ram, which one please and how about Ryzen 5 2600?

I would wait until the Ryzen 2 reviews are out to make a decision, especially when it comes to pricing of the motherboards compared to the first generation. And this is being optimistic there are no bugs at release like the first generation motherboards went through. But yes, Ryzen > Intel when it comes to video editing unless said Intel chip is highly overclocked. I'm leaning towards Ryzen for my next build because of their longer chipset support. Intel has gone through three series of motherboard chipsets in two and a half years between Skylake, Kaby Lake, and Coffee Lake. That's insane.

One comment about video rendering: depending on the program, the GPU will be faster to render with if you have a powerful enough one. I use Vegas...

One comment about video rendering: depending on the program, the GPU will be faster to render with if you have a powerful enough one. I use Vegas Studio and render on the GPU. That program takes advantage of GPU architecture. I haven't tested the freeware version of Handbrake performance rendering on CPU vs. GPU so I'm not sure about that.

LOL well most of we long term members are cool but there are some jackwagons out there. It comes with the territory of PC nerd-ism.

Oh BTW I assume you are burning to 480p on a DVD. If you ever upgrade to Blu-Ray burning at 1080p, your PC's power is all that more important.
