Motherboard issues maybe...?

Hello everyone.
I'm currently stuck on identifying exactly what the issue is with my computer not booting up. I'm a relative noob to computer builds/workings but learning. The issue is that my computer is no longer starting up. I tried a new PSU, to find out it wasn't anything relating to the PSU. If the 24Pin cable to the motherboard is disconnected then everything else seems to start up just fine (fans, leds, etc.) There have also been troubles with windows updates slowing and even shutting down my computer, not sure if this has any relevance into coming up with a diagnosis.
Does anyone have any ideas/theories? I'm all ears!

Thanks in advance.

Greetings, and welcome to the world of computers.
To help you, I need some more information.
What currently happenend before you ended up in this situation?
Does your motherboard make any *beeps* at startup?
Is there nothing appearing on your screen?

Of course...
I was routinely using the computer for basic web searching and light gaming. Just prior to shut down I chose the "update and shut down" option. A few hours later when I try and turn on the computer it would not start up. The motherboard does not make a sound, beep, peep, or creep now when I press the power button. Therefore I can't get anything to appear on my screen. I've unplugged the "12 pin" cord from the PSU to the motherboard and hooked it to a self tester, everything else seems to run except the motherboard and graphics card. Hope this info helps. I'll answer any other questions as soon as I can.

Thank you!

Alrighty, did your computer complete the update, or did it get interrupted.
One thing you can try is to unplug your computer, remove the CMOS battery (usually cannot be missed, one inch flat battery)
Then hold the startup button for 10s or so.
Insert the battery again, and refit the plug.
Check now for any differences.

I'm not 100% sure if it did or didn't; however, I've tried updating several time before without success so I'm highly confident to say it didn't. I've tried as you instructed without any change.

I have earlier experienced windows updates to mess up your computer, if the update were to be interrupted.
But nonetheless you should get to post, or even get into BIOS.
I am sorry, but I cannot think of anything else than a defective motherboard.
Sorry that I could not be of any more help.

Best regards
