If it works, and thats a definite IF, and you set the ram up correctly, what you'll get is 2x4Gb of ram that runs dual channel, and 1x8Gb that runs single channel at @20% performance loss. The ram will also run at the highest voltage of the 2 kinds and the slowest speed and timings, so 2x4Gb at CL 16 and 1x8Gb at CL 17 will all run at CL 17.
And that's if you do not have to manually make adjustments and run all sticks at 2666MHz at CL 20 just to get it stable.
If you want 16Gb, buy 16Gb, or trust your luck to the silicon lottery. There's only one Guarantee when mixing ram, there are no guarantees, at all, in anything.
