Computer will not display to monitor

Hello,

I have a self built computer, but I don't know a ton about troubleshooting and fixing it myself. I have had to bring my computer in to a local shop once and would rather fix this issue without dropping the $40 minimum again.

The last time I used my computer was several weeks ago and it ran perfectly. I recently purchased some used RAM that was an upgrade to what I had before. I installed it and left it for a couple days, since I didn't need to use the computer. I did not move or change any other component. Today, when I tried to boot it, it would light up, fans would spin, but it would not display to the monitor.

Some relevant info:
- ASUS B85M-E mobo
- EVGA 1060 Video Card
- G.skill Ripjaws X RAM
- Connecting to monitor with a HDMI cable (usually connected to video card)

Here's what I've tried so far:
- Using a different HDMI cable.
- Using a different HDMI input to my monitor.
- Disconnecting all components from the mobo and ensuring they are reconnected securely and in the correct place.
- Replacing the new RAM with the original RAM.
- Disconnecting my video card and attempting to use motherboard graphics.
- Using only one stick of RAM in the first slot and cycling through the 4 sticks I have.
- Attempted to access BIOS by pressing Del upon boot.

None of which have caused a noticeable change or display to the monitor. I also tried to remove the battery on the motherboard to reset BIOS to default, but I couldn't remove it easily and didn't want to force it.

What else can I try? Most of the troubleshooting I have found is related to improper set up/connections, but I'm certain this isn't my case.

I know this is simple, but is your monitor turned on? Also see if you can select the input.

Next step would be to try connecting to another monitor/TV to make sure the issue isn't with the monitor. Also, try using a different cable (VGA or DVI) since HDMI can be hit-or-miss with many GPU's.

Thanks for the replies!

My monitor is definitely turned on! I'm sure that's the solution for more people than expected haha. It has two inputs, I have tried both with both HDMI cables.

I took your advice and tried hooking the computer up to my TV. Again tried both cables, again no display.

I wish I had a VGA or DVI cable to try out! If this is the solution, any ideas on why HDMI is suddenly not working?

I had found that article and worked my way through most of it. Unfortunately it seems most of it is related to misconnected components, but I will double check all of the suggestions in that article.
