I currently have an i3-530 in my motherboard which is the GA-H55-UD3H, I don't know which rendition whether rev1.0 or rev1.3 but I think they're pretty much the same.

I've found a very good deal on ebay on x3470s which are going for about $50, and I've checked http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Gigabyte/GA-H55-UD3H(rev._1.3).html to see if my motherboard would support a X3470, yet I only see the X3450 and X3480 which are close relatives of the X3470 which kinda isn't convincing enough, would buying a X3470 still be a logical thing to do at this point or should I just try to find a deal on an i7-870?

CPU Support List

Intel® Xeon® Processor X3470
Intel® Xeon® Processor X3480

Here's how I look at it

The X3470 was released during the third quarter of 2009.
The X3480 was released during the second quarter of 2010.

The X3470 is NOT on the CPU Support List
The X3480 is on the CPU Support List

If they updated the CPU Support List to include the X3480, why would they not include the X3470 if it was supported?

I would think and give it a benefit of a doubt that its just lazy editing and they just included the lowest (X3430), middle (X3450), and highest (X3480) for some kind of ground whether or not it is supported, but thanks anyways. I'll buy the X3470 if I still can in about 2 months.

The OP hasn't made a comment anywhere on Tom's Hardware Forums since this last post. Pretty safe to say that they're not coming back. However, should ZoneLouise return, please feel free to PM me to have this thread re-opened.
