Hey all. I have a Asus Maximus VIII Extreme (LGA 1151) and wanted to add an m.2 ssd to it to make it my boot drive. I'm just not sure which m.2 to get since there are a few different looking connectors out there.

The motherboard manual says that it is a M.2 Socket 3. But I get all sorts of different looking connectors when I Google "Socket 3 m.2 SSD"

I also found a great deal on a Samsung 960 Pro NVMe SSD. Would this be compatible with my motherboard? Or can anyone make a suggestion or link me to something that is compatible. Thanks!

Solution
Asus Maximus VIII Extreme supports NVME and SATA M.2 drives.
You can check QVL list of supported devices.

Samsung 960 Pro NVMe is not on the list (950 Pro is), but should work anyway.
