Hello, the other day i decided to buy a new motherboard and cpu to upgrade my pc, while putting the cpu on the motherboard i realised that the new motherboard has a 8 pin CPU PWR connector whereas my old motherboar donly had a 4 pin, and my psu only has a 4 pin cable, will the 4-pin work? or do i need to buy a new psu...?

Solution

It will work. But it's recommended to use molex+4pin to 8pin EPS adapter.

Also you can use 2x molex to 8pin EPS adapter. Just don't confuse this with 2x molex to 8pin PCIE adapter. They look rather similar, but are not compatible.
