Hi every body,

I want to know what is the difference between these?

HMA81GS6AFR8N-UH NO AB
HMA81GS6AFR8N-UH NO AC

Solution
The AB and AC designations at the end of the part number/label indicate the process used to manufacture the module.

This should not have any effect on performance of memory modules.

However, note that if wanting to use a module with process code AB together with another module with process code AC, there is no guarantee they will be compatible with each other even though they may work fine individually. Also note that using individual modules with the same process code (ie two AB's, or two AC's), again there is no guarantee of inter-module compatibility.

So what I have to take in consideration when to buy a new ram?

When wanting to buy one memory module to be used by itself, then check for motherboard/system compatibility by selecting the module from tested compatible memory. Refer to motherboard/system manufacturer for a list of compatible memory from their "QVL". Also search for compatible memory at most major memory module manufacturers websites using their memory configurator/search.

If wanting to buy another module to be used together with an existing module, then again use motherboard/system QVL and/or memory manufacturers websites to verify motherboard/system compatibility first. But as mentioned previously there is no guarantee of inter-module compatibility, even for modules with the exact same part number. In this case other (same part number) modules may have to be tried until an inter-module compatible combination is found. This may take some time and might cost more in the end.

When wanting two modules for computer with one existing module already installed, it is usually recommended getting a dual channel kit (again check for motherboard/system compatibility first using motherboard QVL and/or using memory manufacturer websites) to replace the existing memory module. The dual channel kit guarantees inter-module compatibilty and the two modules in the kit should work without issue in the computer. The existing module could be kept as backup or sold.
