I want to upgrade to a 2700x when it comes out but I have a x370 board. I'm going to overclock it and i was wondering if it's worth to buy the new x470 board?

My specs:
Amd Ryzen 7 1700x @ 4.1Ghz /amd ryzen 7 2700x

16gb ddr4 @ 3000mhz

Gtx 1080ti

Aorus ax x370 gaming k7

There's a slight boost in XFR2 IIRC, along with a couple of other features..... but I don't feel 'upgrade' to be worth the money.

Realistically, upgrading from a 1700X to a 2700X likely isn't "worth" it either....
Your mobo will require a flash to an updated BIOS in order to use the 2700x and even with it, there's no guarantee you'd get the full functionality of the new CPU on an X370 mobo. This is what I would call a "push": the gains or improvements aren't significant enough to merit the investment or time to rebuild. The offset between will be marginal at best. Still, if you're really that interested, I'd suggest you wait for some validated information and test results (and not leaks) before doing anything.

If you upgrade to the 2700X but stay on X370, you don't get XFR2 and a handful of other Ryzen 2 improvements which require hardware support from the motherboard. X470 also gives you PCIe 3.0 chipset lanes and native USB3.1-gen2 ports.

From 1700X to 2700X, you only get 10-15% more performance, less if you stay on X370. Already not really worth it under best-case with a 400-series motherboard, even less so if you cripple it with a previous-gen board.
