Hi folks,

I can get a good dea on a GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R V1.0 motherboard and processor combo and I already have 6 sticks od 4GB 1Rx8 PC3-12800U-11-12-A1 memory. Having a hard time finding out whether I can use this memory on this board. It's not worth it if I have to go and buy new memory for the MB but if I can use what I have then it's great. Here are the specs if anyone can help:

Manufacturer: Hynix
Manufacturer Part #: HMT451U6AFR8C-PB
Memory Type: DDR3 SDRAM
Capacity: 4GB
Pins: 240 Pin
Bus Type: PC-12800
Error Correction: Non-ECC
Cycle Time: 1.25ns
Cas: CL11
Data Transfer Rate: 1600Mhz
Memory Clock: 200Mhz
Rank: Rank 1
Voltage: 1.5

Thanks in advance!

Lets get down to business.
You have DDR3 memory. Here is the MB specs :
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/CdQypg/gigabyte-motherboard-gax58aud3r
And from a 2nd as a verification source:
https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-X58A-UD3R-rev-10#ov

So, on the main site (2nd one, since its official) we can see

"Supports 3 channel DDR3 2100+ memory"

That means that your DDR3 ram can be used w/ combination of this MB.

So conclusion: The MB CAN support the RAM you are talking about. And it fits all 6 sticks also.

Side note:

The MB and Ram are both DDR3. Overall, DDR3 is still used, but I do recommend upgrading to DDR4. This will mean a lot of work an a lot of $. Since most likely...

Thanks! I know it's not the best but the memory is free and the system will be much better than what I have now. I have had the same system since 2007, lol. It was a beast back then, though :)
