GTX1050 2GB.

If I was playing Skyrim SE I'd run that at 1600x900 for now if any FPS issues, and not use any demanding visuals that eat up VRAM and GPU power. The game can still look pretty good at that res with some anti-aliasing.

High res textures, Flora etc can just destroy the FPS... I remember using a Flora mod with my GTX680 2GB card (GPU is slightly faster than GTX1050 AFAIK) and I got 60FPS at 1920x1080 usually but then I looked out at an area with lots of plants and my FPS dropped under 20FPS.

I ended up with about 40 mods.
Best you can afford.

I agree at 1920x1080 beyond a GTX1070 likely won't help much.

Some Skyrim MODS will kill any graphics card that exists at times so use accordingly and 200+ mods? Really? That may cause CPU performance or software instabilities but whatever.

*Skyrim SE and vanilla Skyrim are also different. Skyrim SE is much smoother and has built-in god rays etc.

Vanilla Skyrim shadows suck ass too and there's no good fix (not sure what version you use).

Prices are also expensive for graphics cards currently. May want to hold off a bit longer.

It's about $350 to $400USD for a GTX1060 6GB, and $525+ for a half decent GTX1070.

THIS is one of the better GTX1070's but it's close to $600 + tax/ship:

Last year in 2017 we could get GTX1060 6GB cards for $250 and GTX1070's for $400.

When the crypto-bubble bursts hopefully in the next two months we may see those prices again, possibly used cards for much cheaper.
