Should I buy Intel core i5 7500 or Ryzen 3 1300x? I am on a tight budget and want to buy the Ryzen 3 1300x but am afraid that it will be slower.. I will use it for gaming and other stuff.

Solution
Pretty much on a par with each other.

Id take the ryzen simply on the basis that its on a newer , current & more upgradeable platform

It should also be cheaper??

Bear in mind the ryzen does not have any integrated graphics!
They are similar, but here's some points:

1) add up the total price of CPU + Motherboard + DDR4 memory

2) Ryzen recommends at least 3000MHz Dual Channel (i.e. 2x4GB 3000MHz CL15 DDR4)

3) Intel can get by with much slower memory (i.e. 2x2400MHz)

4) if Ryzen get motherboard that:
a) can overclock the CPU, and
b) has 4x DIMM slots (to get 2x4GB now and add another 2x4GB identical kit later)

5) *normally I'd say Intel but the AM4 socket will hang around longer (though a future CPU may or may not get near full performance with an older AM4 motherboard)

Since getting really cheap MOTHERBOARD anyway I guess it doesn't matter since it won't add too much to the cost later on to change it when/if swapping the CPU so I suppose it doesn't matter.

SUMMARY:
So having said all that I guess it boils down to price of the x3 total components. I'll look up some prices then post below.

*careful with motherboards. Look at NEWEGG etc. Some just suck.
