What CPU should I choose? R3 1300x or R5 1500x

So I am upgrading my processor and i chose ryzen. I chose the Ryzen 3 1300x and the Ryzen 5 1500x. While i am gaming, at the same time I am talking with my friends on Discord. So if i bought the ryzen 3 1300x and i am playing games that use all of its 4 cores and at the same time talking on discord, will the ryzen 3 1300x get bottlenecked and have some stuttering? Because the ryzen 5 1500x has 4 cores and 8 threads and of course it would not used 100%

If you can afford the R5 1500X, I would obviously get that. Or wait for Ryzen 2500X.

1500x is a better cpu for multi tasking, it also has more cache. Generally cpu with more cache tends to be faster as well. 8 threads allows more process to be executed in parallel, as result that will reduce stutters caused by busy background processes.

I believe the reviews of the new Ryzen CPUs are supposed to come out tomorrow - hold off and see what improvements they offer.

If you plan on Overclocking, then actually go with Ryzen 5 1400. The only real difference between a 1400 and a 1500x is clock rate, but the 1400 only costs ~$10 more than a 1300x right now. A 3.7GHz OC is most likely possible on the cooler that is included with the 1400.

If you are not going to OC, then take a look at the newer/faster 2400G (set to replace the 1400) over the 1500x. even if you don't plan on using the built-in graphics.

New ryzen CPUs actually launch tomorrow so I would wait to what those look like. But between the 2 you've got listed, without a doubt the 1500x.

You need more than 4 cores/4 threads if you want to game AND do something else at the same time. So a Ryzen 5 upgrade is what you want.

Using Newegg for prices, a 1500x cost $10 less than a 1600. I'd spend the $10 extra for the 1600. Otherwise I'd get the 1400 and overclock it.

If it's only 10 bucks between the 1500x and the 1600, get the 1600 and overclock. I have a 1600 clocked at 3.7ghz, and it does just fine.
