As the title states - is Conductonaut safe on my Dark Rock Pro 3 Cooler? (assuming I apply the liquid metal properly and not let it touch my motherboard of course) Thermal Grizzly's website claims this "must not be used with aluminum coolers!" But the Dark Rock Pro 3 specs sheet claims the "base material" is copper but the "surface treatment" is aluminum/dark nickel-plated.

Planning to delid my i7-7700K and using Coollaboratory's Liquid Ultra between the die and IHS, and using the Conductonaut between the IHS and Dark Rock Pro 3 Cooler.

Hi halo35boy,

The dark rock pro 3 has a nickel coated copper base so it's safe to use with it.
As long as you don't use too much of it, it's safe.

FYI :
That's exactly what i have done : DYE>Conductonaut>IHS>Conductonaut>Dark Rock Pro 3.
I've seen my CPU temp dropping from 89°C to 63°C on my 8600K at 5.2GHz with 1.365V.

Even though the cooler heatsink is (I think) made of copper? Thermal Grizzly claims that it's not safe with aluminum though.

Put a tiny amount on the IHS, like a really tiny amount. Spread it out just enough for you not to see the IHS, and spread it really well and remove any excess (repeat on the cooler's plate, but put an even smaller amount on it). Also, make sure you put some clear nail polish or liquid electrical tape around the socket just to be safe.
