Hey guys i need your advice, I overclocked my 8700k to 5ghz with EKWB S240 kit and i get not good results , can you give me your advice , the max Voltage it goes is 1.373

And the temp which I get are these (im getting them under stress test)

Core 0 - 87C
Core 1 - 85C
Core 2 - 89C
Core 3 - 88C
Core 4 - 84C
Core 5- 84C

Is that really bad and there is something wrong or not , because if it there is i need to check from where is coming , because when i leave it to 4.7 ghz is stable 60C but when i got further it goes too high and really dont know why...maybe need to thermal paste, but i just build this pc 3 days ago.

I will really appreciate your help ! Thanks !

Delidding for the magic bragging rights of 5 GHz (vs. the already very impressive 4.7 GHz from the box) is rather risky...(your 60C temp is actually quite good for stock!)

I'd personally not be 'comfortable' with sustained 85-87C temps, so would probably 'suffer' with whatever clock speed gets you in the 60C range...possibly stock.... (you can always consider a better cooling solution later)

If your stock settings get you 60C, what effect does MCE-enabled (Multi Core Enhancement, all cores as high as 4.7 GHz, cooling/power permitting) in the BIOS achieve?

I am not sure why when i remove the overclock and i say in bios that its runs at 4.7 ghz but when i do stress test 4,3 max .. wow any suggestion and one more iwhen i use my XMP option for memory it makes it 1.320 voltage is this normal ?

I don't recall the core voltage being bumped that high strictly because of XMP/adjusting the memory clocks, is there no way to still 'default/auto' the core voltage?

With MCE disabled, only one core should boost to 4.7 GHz....(power/temps permitting...); you might get a sizable boost just from MCE.

Ok, and do you think Asus z370 prime-a is a good mobo for overclock or i need to change to Maximus Apex z370?

BTW I just tested CPU temps in Battlefront 2 on max settings with 1080ti on 1080p to stress the cpu more and it reached max of 67 degrees once , 50-55 stable.. is that actually good ?

I have a 8700k with Antec Mercury 360 and ASUS TUF Z370-Pro. My CPU runs 5Ghz @ 1.28v and XMP ( my rams supports 3466Mhz) and it never goes above 80C under extreme stress testing ( Aida, Prime95). In games my cpu averages between 35-40C.

Don't use AUTO setting on the voltages, when I used the Sync all cores on 4.7Hgz my voltages was around 1.4-1.425 with the AUTO setting.

I am running on 5.1GHZ , I can do 5.2 with 1.4 - 1.440 my temps never goes above 70 degrees, but I did a delid.

My CPU is not delided. I can do 5.1 but requite 1.388v to get it stable.

What stable means, I can do all tests intel burning aida , cpu-z and etc with 1.36 on 5.2 ghz and the machine is stable for 24 hours of testing without fail, but it fails when I play games , some of the games just make the cpu crash so I found for gaming 1.4+ is the key. for other things I can reduce with even for rendering on 1.36-7 is working fine.
