EVGA 650 G2 eps cpu cable question

If you read the reviews of the EVGA 650 G2, most of them show that it originally came with a cpu cable that had 2 8 pin connections so it could be used with high end motherboards. It doesn't come that way anymore, and I have the newer version with only 1 4+4 pin connector. My question is, would the following splitter in the link be safe to use with it or was the original cable maybe wired such that the 2 8 pin connectors were on seperate wires altogether?

Can you link to one of the reviews?
If I had to guess those PSUs use thicker gauge wire and have the capacity to push the wattage over a single, split cable.
The two EPS connections are on entirely different ports on the PSU.

A splitter like that is easily a poor choice. All you would be doing is splitting the wattage from the single EPS to two ports, its not the same as using two distinct EPS leads. If you dont have the second cable, you can always run those motherboards with just the one port. Its mostly meant for heavy OCs.

Thank you, I'm not one to use splitters and such usually but I'm just confused I guess because in Jonnygurus review he makes a point of talking about the cpu cable having 2 8 pin on 1 cable and how it makes it compatible with more mothersomeboards. I would think he would point out your point as well, that it shares wattage. I am just looking at the new x470 boards and some have 4 or 8 pin extra connections.

Oh and thank you again for being the voice of reason. I'm not so good at knowing the voltages and wattages that cables can safely handle other than a rudimentary understanding. I know what plugs in where basically. Lol.
