Hi,
my i7-8700k OC to 4.9ghz with custom waterloop CPU and GPU, the CPU temperature up down up down every second between 65C to 85C under stress test, why the temperature not stable?? waterloop problem or very normal??

Solution
The 8700K falls into the silicon lottery just like all the rest you may have one that's just not going to do higher clocks unless you either delid it or obtain better cooling for the CPU.

Motherboard BIOS settings can be a factor as well relating to your overclock settings it would help if you listed your hardware specs., and just exactly how you've reached the 4.9ghz OC?

I using asrock z370 extreme4, i set cpu ratio x49 and cpu vcore volt set as auto, it run stable the only thing is the temperature go up and down. When gaming it up down between 55C to 70C. Every i7-8700k will have not stable temperature??

If the system is not being stress tested with benchmarking software, you are going to see temperature fluctuations each second. Gaming is not a load testing scenario since system load increases and decreases very often.

The only times temperatures rarely fluctuate are on 100% system load and at 0% load, or idle.
