Hi all,

I've ordered a new MSI Vega 56 reference card for my system, which is a little old, but not ancient.

The PSU I've got is Enermax - 650W 80+ Bronze ATX, it has two rails for a graphics card, however they're 6 pin plugs, and the Vega card requires 8 pin plugs.

I have one adapter for a 6 pin to 8 pin, and should get one with the new card, would it be okay to use this configuration or should I get a new PSU?

Thank you,

M

Hey there!

Unfortunately this is not my PSU, same company, but this is a newer version when they started calling them Triathlor etc.

Mine is an older version where it has only 6 pin rails, not the 6+2 as in the link. I have one of the adaptors as a separate item which connects to the 6pin, and gives you 8 pin connector, and I should get another with the new card, but I've seen people express that it's not a good idea when it's just one rail, let alone both.

I've been running my current card in this config, where it requires one 6pin and one 8pin connector, but I suppose I just want to ensure I'm not risking damage/performance by continuing to run the old PSU in that way.

Thank you!

M
