Hi guys please can i have some help.i am mulling over a gtx 970 for approx 175 dollars or a gtx 1070 for $460.
I play of my tv in my living room, i jad a gtx 1050ti and an i3 4170 which i got rid of to do a full upgrade.
I currently have the ffg:
I5 4690k
Z97 asus gryphon edition mobo
8gb ddr3 1600 ram
Plus a couple ssd and a 2tb hdd
Antec 500w psu.
I just want 60fps on high or ultra but i am fearful that the 970 wnt be as future proof as i like.
Thank you in advance

Solution
Get the 1070, it will last longer without having to consider the next upgrade, that being said I'd also recommend overclocking that 4690K as far as it will safely go to get a bit more performance on games with a heavy CPU utilization.

You power supply is a bit tight on running both GPUs , should work but not ideal. 1070 is about two steps up from 970 ( being similar to 980 ti)so it should last somewhat longer, number wises, fps wise, your cpu is okay, but 1080p60 gaming tends to be more cpu/ platform bounded then gpu. so older i5 will suffer by ohaving only 4 cores. I would say that the difference is not as noticeable as when you game in 1440p as my personal experience running a rx580 and a 1080ti
