Un fortunately I had to do a clean install of Windows 7 and now I do not have access to the internet as it is saying " Windows did not properly install Network adapter" when I went into Device manager these are the drivers missing Ethernet Controller, Multimedia Audio controller, PCI Serial port, PCI Simple Communications Controller, SM Bus Controller . I do have access to internet on another device so I could download to a CD and install on computer if anyone can help me find the drivers I need . I have also tried reinstalling windows with the same issues the 2nd time and have called HP and they said my computer was out of warranty so they were of no help ... I would be forever grateful if anyone could help with this issue . Thanks so much .

Solution
You're overthinking things. Just download all of the needed drivers at once, saving them on removable media.

Download the latest version in each category (ignore BIOS updates for now).

Thank you for your link :) ex_bubblehead
I have gone there and now have additional questions Sorry...
I am assuming I have to download the chipset driver and then that would get me onto the internet to be able to download the other drivers directly onto said desktop ?
and once I download and save on another device will there be be an option to copy to Cd instead of onto my friends computer ? sorry for my ignorance on computer workings ... I thought when I made a recovery disk before I did a clean install it would have copied all this info for me :( I just don't want to be installing drivers that I need on someone elses computer . also is there anyway of knowing out of the list which particular drivers I should install as when I click on the drivers I need there are several choices ? Thanks again

Download and install (in that order) Chipset, then Ethernet drivers. Reboot, your PC should now be connected to Internet. Next one to download is Video, then Audio, then anything which has "?" mark in Devices' Manager.

I suppose HP have their own utility to keep your system updated.
